Perfect for our small kitchen composting needs February 19, 2008 Saturnino Garcia (San Diego, CA) 32 out of 33 found this review helpful
I recently became very fed up with the amount of stuff we were throwing out. Along with getting a 2nd container to keep our #3-6 recyclables (which we can't put in our city recycling bin), I picked up this compost bucket to keep under our kitchen sink. While the plastic recycling has been a disaster (the state of recycling in San Diego is very poor...), this little marvel has really been awesome.
With just my wife and myself, the bucket filled up in a little over a week. We live in an apartment without a compost bin so we have to take it to Whole Foods for the actual composting process to take place. As a result, we don't clean it out until it fills up. Luckily, the lid with the carbon filter kept all the smells in. It was a bit of a mess to clean up after emptying but we picked up some BioBags and they really make the bucket even handier.
I would definitely recommend this for your small kitchen composting needs.
Great compost pail! October 7, 2007 Wysiwyg (Forest Hill, MD) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
Excellent product and was delivered promptly. The size allows me to reduce the number of trips I have to make to our compost pile. I sometimes don't empty the container for 3 days and it has never emitted an odor. In addition, it's light weight, making it easy to carry even when filled to the brim. Once emptied, I give it a quick rinse and it's ready to go. The only thing I would have preferred is a choice of colors, but that's not a major issue since everything else about the product is great!
Compost Bucket July 7, 2007 A. Barnes (Fieldbrook, CA) 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
I've looked high and low for a compost bucket that's not flashy - don't like shiny chrome ones - and not heavy like the crockery ones. This one seems to be the best one out there. I purchased it to replace the older model of the same design. We'd had the old one for about seven years, and after the puppy had chewed it and the charcoal filter thing kept falling out, I decided to buy a new one once the handle finally fell off. We actually use it for scraps for our chickens, not for compost, so the kids would often take it outside to the chicken pen. Suffice to say it had a hard life, and stuck in there well. My only request would be for more color options. The green is okay, and certainly more appealing than the old white one we had, but a choice of colors would be fantastic.
The compost bucket arrived from the seller within a week.
I love this thing! April 15, 2008 P. Bost (Charlotte, NC United States) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I was keeping my kitchen scraps in a Tupperware container on the kitchen counter and then under the sink b/c my wife couldn't stand looking at it. But it was a hassle to open and filled up too fast. With this compost bucket it fits perfectly under the sink, does not smell at all (when closed), the hinged lid is easy to open and add to and it is large enough to collect scraps for a week or two with my small family! Love it!
large compost bucket December 18, 2007 i.b.m. redfish (Somerville, MA USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
this compost pail is attractive, well made, and a great size for the kitchen. put on the counter or underneath in a cabinet. the filters in the lid completely block any odor. the opaque walls hide ugly compost. i bought this after seeing a friend's. very glad i have it.
